You have a lot of truth in that poem. What most have gone thru and more will go thru. I don't find it negative, it's just your experience and frustration and sadness.
Keep writing.

The large shield of blind[ing] faith
by waton in2 thoughts on yesterday's jan 19.
2020 wt study.
no 46 wt nov 2019.. the shield of faith, that jws are told to hide behind is so large, page 19, that if held comfortably would require it to have rear view mirrors, (to see 1975).

I saw the picture on reddit they used. Most significant to me was that they used a woman in the illustration and not a man. How many times in the past did they use a man, most probably an Israelite, to wield that shield?
So they are recognizing that they better bolster up the "large" army of women cause the men are leaving. Wow really, I am pretty surprised with that.

My, my. So many who perceive that they may have been wronged. Didn't the lord and savior Jesus Christ counsel to remove the rafter from your own eye so you could see how to remove the (tiny) straw from your brothers eye? And what about let the one without sin cast the first stone. I must be in good company here as so many of you are perfect.
This is how they guilt people into not standing up for themselves.By the way, from the mouth of the Watchtower itself:Tampering Discovered and Corrected
It was obvious from the start that the text of Tischendorf’s discovery was basically identical with that which was the foundation for today’s Bibles. Yet it revealed evidence of tampering.
An example is the familiar account at John 8:1-11 (Authorized Version) about an adulterous woman about to be stoned, and that reports Jesus as saying, ‘Let him that is without sin cast the first stone.’ It was not in this early manuscript. So later editions of the Bible have removed it or put it in a footnote to refine the Bible text. Other additions were also found and deleted.
So using a "tampered" text is funny coming from a JW.

I just found it annoying that articles like that, only had results from the "nice" people who did try to smooth things over. The takers and the mean ones - they never apologized. In fact, I think it encouraged the selfish to take advantage of the others because people who were trying to be christian, were guilted into forgiving them without any evidence of "repentance".

Adam could have put Jehovah In Paradox!
by JohnTron72 ini'm going to be the first and throw this out there for others but, from careful study of the scriptures i've found a loophole that even adam who was perfect at the time missed!
i'm sure everyone has heard the conundrum about ,"can god create a rock he can't lift?
" and if he can't create one he can't lift, then god cannot do everything" well that doesn't really matter since we know jehovah says himself he cannot lie right?

It was also punishable by death to have sex with a married woman. Also it was a penalty of death to murder another person. Saying sorry wasn't a condition to get out of it. It was also against the law to count the people. How many died because of it? All of these things were done by David. He got confronted and only then did he say sorry.
I guess it's good to be a favorite of God - you get to say sorry and live. Unlike the regular people like Uzzah. He didn't a chance to repent. And as I said before, David was responsible for not having it carried by the levites.
NOVEMBER 15, 2012 study article
Life was considered sacred under the Law. A deliberate murderer could in no way be exonerated. He was to be put to death without fail. Thus in Numbers 35:30-33 we read: “Every fatal striker of a soul should be slain as a murderer at the mouth of witnesses, and one witness may not testify against a soul for him to die. And you must take no ransom for the soul of a murderer who is deserving to die, for without fail he should be put to death. . . . And you must not pollute the land in which you are; because it is blood that pollutes the land, and for the land there may be no atonement respecting the blood that has been spilled upon it except by the blood of the one spilling it.” This law removed such a wicked person from Israelite society. He did not run free to commit more murders.
I am not saying that there shouldn't be consequences for actions that hurt others. I am showing that God picks and chooses his justice depending on the person - it isn't consistent. Is it fair that the child died because of David and Bathsheba's lust?
From the same study article as above:
(Deuteronomy 24:16) 16 “Fathers should not be put to death on account of children, and children should not be put to death on account of fathers. Each one should be put to death for his own sin.

Do you mean that they are emphasizing that you have to "tack" to go forward? As in "we get to swerve back and forth in our teachings to go straight?" Or are you trying to formulate an answer to counter it?

To define unconditional love is to say that a person loves someone unselfishly, that he or she cares about the happiness of the other person and will do anything to help that person feel happiness without expecting anything in return. In other words, the definition of unconditional love is "love without conditions."Nov 28, 2019
Animals can give this kind of love and most will say that dogs exemplify that quality. When I've had nothing else in this world, I've held my dog, cat, rat and have at least been comforted by them. You are right, God has conditional love.
That is why many who are raised in the JW religion have felt anxious about how God is judging them. Was I forgiven? Will the mistake I did, keep me from being in the paradise? What if I make a wrong decision during the Great Tribulation and that takes away my chance at life? One tiny mistake, and you are gone.
There are many that have expressed those fears to me and I myself who have grown up in this religion, have felt them too.
If God is love, why did he allow Adam and Eve to have children? Just like the child of David & Bathsheba whom God killed as a punishment to David, we are also "killed" by God as a punishment to Adam. That child suffered several days before dying. We can suffer years before dying of old age, diseases, genetic malfunctions etc. Heck we don't even have to be old to suffer and die. How many millions/billions have experienced this already? Yet God, because he loves us, wants to be absolutely sure that everyone knows how bad it is to disobey him. And so the suffering goes on and on. Oh I forgot, he wants us to know that it hurts him too.

His whole family is JW and his mother is very sick.
This is what probably started his return. Once he contacted them again, his mother would express a wish for him to come back to Jehovah.
If he has never examined the religion and came to the realization that it isn't truthful at all, it's like a virus that has reactivated. Probably he has been living life while looking over his shoulder in fear of Armageddon. Or the other reason may be that in order for him to have time with his mom before she dies, he was willing to sacrifice you and your children. Because JW's shun as others have said. That would have meant no contact if she and the others are hard case witnesses.Sorry that you have to be betrayed like that. The religion doesn't really care about those that follow them no matter what their literature says. It's just money that they care about.

I like that you put a lot of thought into this. It is inventive and twistie. I am curious as to how you started off on this tangent. Maybe you wanted to figure out a way to get the human race out of this mess. The mess being (from the biblical explanation) that humanity went over the cliff with Adam and Eve and into sin. Sin of course made everyone imperfect, have bad tendencies and eventually become old and ill and suffer and die. All preventable if Adam chose not to have children, commit suicide or kill Eve.
Don't be upset over Star Trek. Even tho there were Tribbles and hippie space gurus, the writers did have episodes where they tried to educate or comment on human foibles. Sci Fi writers try to make people view problems or conditions in a different way. Sometimes with humor or with ??? Somewhat like you.
I would like to extend your story. What if the Adam found in the bible, wasn't the first Adam? God, not looking ahead to see if what he made really was perfect (at least in the way he imagined perfect) created Adam 1. He also had a host of beings he called angels that he created first. After a few hundred years, the angels saw that God liked a lot of attention. Some of them had to bow down continually praising him which meant they led an oppressive and restrictive life. They had to strictly obey God or end up dead. So when the first Adam was created, one of the angels decided to talk with him about their experiences with God and what it was like and what he could expect. Adam 1 found the truth in it when God started talking to him everyday. Eventually, he refused to do things like God wanted him to. So God, not liking that his creation - angelic or human - contradicted him, got rid of them all and started again. Time after time, things didn't go as God wanted them to. Eventually, although he knew what he created was perfect (because he was a fantastic creator) he decided it was everyone else's fault. Imposed penalties and made sure that the story correctly put the blame where it belonged. All the children from the last Adam he created, also got the penalty. Amazingly he told later descendants, that you weren't supposed to blame sons for their fathers mistakes. But you know, God can't do anything wrong.
I don't believe in the God of the bible because once you just view him as a person with power - just like a human president, king or dictator - you see that he isn't fair. Forgive David for having sex with a married woman, who killed her husband and cover it over. Instead kill the child that had no choice. In contrast - no forgiveness for Uzzah for putting a hand out to steady the ark, which by the way, was another stupid thing that David messed up on by putting it on cart. What about the husband of Bathsheba? Loyal, faithful and dead. God didn't do anything to protect him from David or even expose David before it got that far.
The list goes on. Imagine those things.
